I recently terminated my coaching with Anita after only two sessions. I cannot recommend her for anyone seeking evidence-based health advice or support for anyone that is neurodivergent.
Dismissal of Neurodivergence & Executive Dysfunction:
I struggle with executive dysfunction. When I explained that I know what I need to do but struggle with the "doing," her only advice was: "Do it even if I don't feel like it" and "Do it first and the motivation will come later." This "pull yourself up by your bootstraps" approach is not only unhelpful for neurodivergent individuals but demonstrates a lack of professional coaching tools.
She was also openly dismissive of ADHD, emailing me to state that it is a "regressive, reductionist label" and that it has "no biological markers." She attributed these struggles to upbringing, trauma, or "personality," rather than acknowledging it as a legitimate medical diagnosis.
Non-Evidence-Based Health Advice:
Her nutritional advice frequently contradicted established science. She claimed:
There are no health risks associated with LDL cholesterol.
Red meat and animal fats should be at the top of the food pyramid, with nuts and grains at the bottom.
Artificial sweeteners are inherently "bad," despite evidence to the contrary.
Professionalism and Billing:
She did not respect my preference for evidence-based facts and was frequently argumentative. Finally, the billing felt predatory; I paid £300 for six sessions upfront. Despite terminating the service after just two sessions due to these fundamental disagreements, she only refunded £100—effectively charging me £100 per hour for two sessions of poor advice.
I had signed a contract of my commitment, but I expected that I would be recieving professional evidence based advice and support.
If you value science, professional conduct, or require an inclusive coach who understands how the brain works, I suggest looking elsewhere.
